Sitar Indian Restaurant

Sitar Indian Restaurant, in the centre of the city, offers some of the best Indian food in Rome.

It’s not easy to find decent Indian food in Rome. Portions are often small, watery and unsatisfying, lacking either the subtle flavour of authentic Indian cuisine, or the comfort factor of its Western cousin.

It’s a relief, then, to find Sitar Indian Restaurant in Monti offering some of the best Indian food in Rome, and right in the heart of the city.

The restaurant consists of about a dozen tables at the bottom of a small flight of stairs. Service is prompt and graceful, and the food is superb.

Several times we’ve been offered bidi (Indian cigarettes made of unprocessed tobacco) after our meal, which is a nice attention to detail.

Accompaniments include tasty chicken pakora and a wide selection of nan breads. Indian beers are available, at around €6.50 for a large bottle.

Sitar also offers takeaway, and the staff speak English.
