Shawarma Station
The Shawarma Station may not look like the most appealing place, but the food here is good and diverse and the ambiance is pleasantly multicultural.
Living in Rome, you can often feel like there aren’t many options apart from the traditional pasta/pizza lunch menu. However, right next to one of Rome’s grandest symbols of Christianity (the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore) is an incredible Middle Eastern cafeteria-style joint.
On a recent visit with our friend Jessica (who took the photo) we had falafel with baba ghanoush and hummus, kebabs, salad, and tasty almond rice. Everything was delicious and abundant, and the total bill came to only 10 Euro for the two of us!
While Shawarma Station is not ideal for a romantic dinner or a classy meal, the informal setting and busy atmosphere make it great for a quick lunch during a day of sightseeing, or a handy stop to pick up a takeaway.
