Reviews of restaurants and guide to eating out in Rome, Italy.

The Historic Centre

Because of the number of tourists in the centre of Rome, and the number of bad restaurants set up to cater to them, finding places to eat here can be a bit of a minefield. However, with a little planning ahead it is possible to eat well. Good pizza places include Pizzeria La Montecarlo, battered fish is available at Dar Filettaro in Campo dei Fiori, and Bar Pascucci, just south of the Pantheon, offers delicious frullati (aka smoothies).

Note: For the purposes of this Website, the “centre of Rome” includes only the area to the west, between the Tiber River and the Forums, including Campo dei Fiori. For the area around Via Cavour, between the Forums and Termini station, see Restaurants in Monti.
