Reviews of restaurants and guide to eating out in Rome, Italy.

Monti

One of the older neighbourhoods of Rome, Monti still manages to retain some of its local charm and sense of community, despite being right in the centre of the city.

Although it’s a popular (and expensive) place for expatriates to buy houses, the lack of obvious tourist attractions means that the holiday hordes tend to skirt around the edges of the area on the way to the Colosseum in the east, or the Imperial Forums in the south.

Notable restaurants in the area include Urbana 47 and Taverna dei Fori Imperiali. Wine lovers will find Al Vino Al Vino, on Via dei Serpenti, well worth a visit.

Rione Monti actually covers a considerable portion of the historic centre. For the purposes of this Website, we’ve cut it down to the area around Piazza Madonna dei Monti. So see Restaurants in the Centre of Rome for the area between here and the Tiber river to the west.
