Pizzeria Al Ponticello
A few minutes walk south of Basilica San Paolo, Al Ponticello offers a decent range of pizzas and pasta dishes.
We use Al Ponticello primarily as a pizzeria: the pizzas—prepared in a forno a legna, naturally—are good quality, as are the fiori di zucca and the filetti if you fancy starting with some fritti. (There’s usually a queue for takeaway in the evenings, which is a good sign.)
The menu certainly isn’t limited to pizzas, though. They also offer pasta and meat from the grill. In the past we’ve tried one or two of their pasta dishes, and these were also good. With Peperoncino just down the road, we’ve yet to try the grilled meats on offer at Al Ponticello, but sooner or later we will…
Service at Ponticello is friendly and efficient; it’s a fairly small restaurant, benefitting from redecoration at the beginning of 2009.
