If you find yourself in Garbatella, it’s well worth checking out Isola dei Sardi Due. The restaurant is both a mouth-watering seafood restaurant and a great pizzeria, so much so that it can be tricky deciding which route to take through the menu…
On the seafood side, highlights among the primi (pasta dishes, risotto, etc.) include the spaghetti al cartoccio (spaghetti and seafood baked in aluminium foil), and the secondi include trancio d’ombrina (fish steak in a rich tomato sauce). Desserts include a fresh and creamy crema catalana, and a semifreddo al torroncino, first recommended to us by Katie Parla, which just has to be tried.
Or you could just ignore all that seafood, and have some great fritti (the €5 fritto misto is practically a meal in itself) followed by a pizza, with a nice crisp base, prepared in a wood-burning oven.
