Antica Trattoria Da Carlone
Owned by an Abruzzese-Roman family, Antica Trattoria Da Carlone offers a good menu of traditional dishes in a friendly environment.
Da Carlone is located in a small side street in the Trastevere neighbourhood, and in the good season has outdoor seating. Remo is the father and owner of the restaurant, along with his son Christian. Bettina is in the kitchen, and prepares generous portions, especially when it comes to pasta.
If you’re going with a large group, we recommend tasting two or three different pasta dishes, including the ravioli with carciofi (artichoke), the amatriciana, and an exceptional cacio e pepe. A good alternative to pasta is abbacchio (lamb), or the traditional mozarella in carrozza—grilled mozarrella cheese with a slice of prosciutto and seasoning.
Antica Trattoria Da Carlone is a relaxed venue and a good place for an informal meal, away from the obsequious service and tourist-pleasing menus of nearby Trastevere restaurants.
